On Wednesday 2nd October the Mayor of Derby, Councillor\u00a0Ged\u00a0Potter officially opened
Reach Community Grocers on Pride Park. The mayor gave a wonderful speech emphasising the importance of this project for the city of Derby. The community grocer\u2019s sponsors, supporters and other dignitaries were also in attendance to mark this occasion. A local Derby church has set up the Reach Community Grocers to help the many families\/individuals in the region who are having to make the difficult decision to choose between heating and eating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The farm-shop style grocers on is here to help families and individuals who are struggling to put food on their table in the face of today\u2019s cost-of-living crisis as well as reduce food waste and support members with free courses and skill development. The grocers also stocks essential household items including toiletries and nappies that can be purchased at reduced prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Membership is available to anyone who needs it.\u00a0 Members of the public can join for \u00a35 per year.\u00a0 This will allow them to make up to 3 visits per week, making a contribution of \u00a36 per visit.\u00a0 They can then choose a range of good, wholesome food with a value of up to \u00a325.\u00a0Membership also includes other benefits such as access to free courses in the Hub and the opportunity to sit and chat to volunteers over a free cup of tea or coffee. The Hub is a welcoming comfortable space that sits alongside the grocers. Reach Community Grocers is open from 10am \u2013 4pm Monday to Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Derby so much better with food and connection. We all need to eat, and we all
live for relationship. We have married these 2 things and hope that we can
enrich the lives of folks around us accordingly. We have not been created to
